Rustic Mini Wood Pallet American Flag Decor
Hey friends! Today we’re making a simple and beautiful rustic wooden American flag wall decor piece that’s perfect for summer, Memorial Day, the 4th of July—or honestly, all year long if you love that farmhouse Americana style. This is one of those projects that looks high-end but is actually super easy to put together. If you enjoy painting and adding a little rustic charm to your home, you’re going to love this one! All you need is a mini wood pallet from DollarTree or other craft supply store and a few basic crafting supplies that you probably already have at home!

Supplies You’ll Need:
- Mini wood pallet (Dollar Tree)
- Acrylic Paint: red, white, and blue
- Sharpie Acrylic Markers (affiliate links)
- DixyBell Antique Wax (affiliate link)
- Blending Tool (found in our shop)
- Small wooden star embellishment (from our Stars Pack HERE)
- Paintbrushes
- Sandpaper or sanding block (affiliate link)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks (you can get these in our shop too)
- Raffia, twine (affiliate link), or ribbon
- Floral wire (affiliate link) (or other thin wire for hanging)
Step 1: Paint Your Mini Wood Pallet
Paint alternating rows red and white. For the top corner section, paint a rectangle in dark blue. Don’t worry about perfection—this project looks even better with a slightly imperfect, rustic finish. Let everything dry completely before moving on.

Step 2: Paint Your Little Wood Star
Then take your wooden star embellishment and paint it a soft neutral or off-white color.

Step 3: Sand Edges for a Worn Look
Lightly sand across the edges and surface of each slat to give it that weathered farmhouse feel. Focus on areas where natural wear would happen such as edges, corners, and raised spots. Also, sand the edges of the star also.

Step 4: Add Antique Wax to Add an Rustic Finish
Next, to add a rustic touch, use a blending tool or similar tool to apply antique was around the edges and lightly through the middle of your patriotic mini pallet flag. Go around the edges of your wooden star also. Let all that dry.
Step 5: Assemble the Flag
Then, hot glue the little painted wooden star into place in the middle of the blue area.

Step 5: Add the Finishing Touch
Next, using a white Sharpie Acrylic Markers marker (or dip the wood end of your paint brush into acrylic white paint and dab little dots), add little dots in the blue area of your flag to represent stars.

Next, wrap some wire around the top slat of your mini wood pallet flag to make a little hanger.

Tie a small bundle of raffia into a bow and attach it to one corner of the flag for that extra farmhouse charm. And that’s it—you’ve got yourself a beautiful rustic American flag.

This project is so versatile and easy to customize. You could change the colors, add wording, or even make a larger version for a porch sign. It also makes a great handmade gift or a fun craft to do with friends or family.
